Industrial Systems Engineering (ISE) has several well equipped laboratories of which the primary functions are to support students and faculty for teaching and research and to involve in outreach programs. It has its own LAN system connecting all the offices and laboratories with the internet access.

PC Network / Simulation Laboratory

This lab is equipped with computing facilities, a Window NT cluster running on Pentium PC networks for general applications and internet access, an HP UNIX cluster at the high end running powerful CAD/CAM, simulation softwares, and optimization packages.


The Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) Laboratory
 


The Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) Laboratory was officially inagurated on September 23, 1991. It provides the hardware and software  support for the Industrial Systems Engineering Program.

The CIM Laboratory also provides training and consultancy services in CAD, CAM, CNC Machining, MRP II and Factory Management.

The CIM Laboratory is equipped with Production and Training CNC Machines including EMCO TURN242 Industrial Production CNC Lathe, CNC Coordinate Measuring from Zeiss, EMCO VMC200 CNC Vertical Machining Center for Universal Production, MAHO MH600E2 5-Axis Universal Milling & Boring Machine, EMCO Compact 5 CNC, EMCO F1 CNC, LVD CNC Press Brake, LVD CNC Waterjet Cutter, ZOLLER Tool Presetting systems, and Mondiale Gallic G-420 Industrial CNC Lathe; Mitsuibishi MoveMaster Micro Robot; EMCO CNC training system.

A range of CAD/CAM software solutions including UNIGRAPHICS II, Master CAM, AutoCAD with Mechanical Desktop, EMCODRAFT CAD/CAM, CADMANP/PEPS, CADMANL/CAM2000, CADMANB, Reverse Engineering Software SHAPID; MRP II software: Micro-MAX MRP, FOURTH SHIFT;  and DiCON DNC systems.

The Mechatronics and Automation Laboratory
 


This laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art process automation equipment employed in real high tech systems used in modern industries. The equipment consists of networked programmable controllers (PLCs) with demo process models, distributed process control system(PCS7), graphical control panel, human-machine interface station with operator communication and visualisation software. 

Laboratory is also equipped with state of the art six axis industrial robot from KUKA, Germany and a NOMAD 200 mobile robot with vision and other sensors. All the equipment in this laboratory is interconnected using Ethernet and Profi-bus. 

The research activities are undertaken in close collaboration with industry in the area of automation, mobile robotics, system design and integration.
